Ida’s grand father and grand mother worked in that factory, and managed to homestead a piece of land and build a strong house that protected them and their family. Their sons were born in that house, and when they grew up the also worked in the same factory, but by then, the need for their hardened glass in the traditional construction market was diminishing, and the need for a different income source pushed many of them to look for alternatives. Ida’s father was a very strong young rek, which got him a job as a tester in the factory. His job was to test breaking the product, and that gave him huge experience in how to break re-enforced glass. When the sales declined he lost his job, but by that time, the marine warfare industry was blooming, and needed glass for the new ships. He got hired by Guardis, which specialized in ship supplies, to do the same job, test if the glass satisfied military specifications. The job made him rich, which enabled him to establish a private agency and offer consulting services in hardened materials using his new test lab.

He shared his experience with his kids, and Ida grew up to work in her father’s lab. She started as a young experiment designer under the coaching of her father, and her research lead her to building projectiles that penetrate glass and other types of materials. The marine warfare industry was a big customer for her innovations, and Guardis made sure those innovations were marketed to all the armies in Biliad.

Her research into projectiles lead her to innovate in propulsion technology, which Guardis was very interested in. They build rocket factories and did what they do best, which is sales. Those sales made the young scientist a very wealthy rek, and enabled her to buy the entire glass factory and her father’s first lab. And while Guardis were making money for her, she continued to improve her propulsion engine until she managed to send a rocket into space.

Her life partner was a marketer for Guardis, and with his experience in marketing he helped her to re-brand her lab as “Vinset space company”.

Vinset started as a research and education company, but as the space age is blooming, reks from all the world wanted to learn and take part in it. Vinset capitalised on the demand by expanding their infrastructure. Ida decided to build the new buildings with glass and steel, not with heavy stones as usual, She called her new infrastructure “Space Town”, and started the project by building a new glass factory using the glass that the her old glass factory produced.

Although Vinset did not make any direct technology sales to customer, the technologies it developed were monetised by Guardis, which enabled Vinset to finance the huge Space Town project. This lasted for decades until Vinset detected the Tailless probe in day 170 of year 3204. That discovery made Vinset the most famous company in Biliad, and all reks stopped dismissing Vinset and its space program as useless or imaginary.

Her partner has retired, and wanted to live with her in the old fashioned house he built for them, and it was time for Ida to retire as well. Her retirement process started by promoting the young scientist Maro to become her deputy, and she planned to announce her retirement after sending the Tailless response.

Ida has two sons and two daughters. Her elder son is a close friend to Maro, and her daughter is Maro’s partner.
